PHA's Tidbits - San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City

Sometimes Bigger is NOT Always Better and GPS is NOT Always Right!!!!!

Sometimes Bigger is NOT Always Better and GPS is NOT Always Right!!!!!

At least when you're a Moving or Commercial Truck trying to navigate the hills of San Francisco.... LOL LOL

Divisadero St bottomed out Moving TruckI feel so sorry for this Long Haul Flatbed driver.... his GPS directed him to drive along Divisadero St., that stretches from the Castro District on the South to the Pacific Heights/Marina Districts on the North in San Francisco.  Yes, it was the most direct route for his destination, but it failed to advise him that because of the very steep grades on the hills, that his truck would bottom out.

Divisadero St bottomed out Moving TruckNot only will he be unable to deliver his load during regular business hours, whoever hired him is going to incur the very expensive cost for a heavy-duty tow truck to pull him back up the hill... then they have to figure out how to get to a street with lesser-grade hills going East and West to get him over to Van Ness Boulevard which is graded for heavy trucks - whew. Will take HOURS!!

Another reason why it is so important for inter-state and intra-state relocations to hire a moving organizer who is very familiar with the City you are moving into... they can provide critical information such as letting you know whether the route your moving truck driver is going to take really is safe for his load and length of vehicle. (Some of our San Francisco streets can only handle 17 tons - a commercial moving truck, when full, can max out at 22 tons!)

I'm curious Realtors... do you provide this type of information to your relocation clients?  If not, seems like I have some work to do!
